Our next stop was Juneau. The city is not accessible by land, only boat or plane. We toured the Alaska State Museum. The birch hats allowed the whale hunters to have both hands free for paddling, while funneling the sound to their ears. Such a fashion statement!

Had to stop by and visit with Sarah Palin while in Juneau (although she only stays here 60 days a year).

We thought the $5 Footlongs in Canada were expensive at $5.99, until we saw this sign in the window. We later found out that in Denali the Footlongs were $9!!

Once again, the sun shines after a drizzly morning.

While in port, Libby Riddles was the guest speaker onboad the ship. She was the first female Iditarod champion. She moved to Nome on a hippie compound as a teenager, where they lived without water and electricity. Sleddogs were an important part of their lives, and she eventually started competing in sleddog races (starting with smaller races held in Alaska -- ones we've never heard of).

This is Mendenhall Glacier, located just on the edge of town.
