On our way from Vancouver to southern California, we spent a day in Seattle. Approaching the city, Mt. Rainier appears like a ghost overlooking the city.

Pugent Sound and the downtown skyline are beautiful sights.

As seen on TV: the first boat in the show "Deadliest Catch;" now retired from fishing and helping in the filming of the show.

We stopped at Commodore Park locks, which connect Pugent Sound to Lake Washington.

We watched this Indian netting the salmon coming up the "fish ladder."

We really wanted to see the salmon swimming upstream, but expected that they would be jumping out of the water in the ascent up the river and waterfalls. Apparently, science has aided the salmon in their journey upstream.

Pugent Sound

Mt. Ranier again looking like a ghost looking over the Sound.

A lovely neighborhood along the Sound.

Pike Place Fish in the Pike's Market has an astounding array of fresh fish. If one orders a fillet, a lot of yelling takes place and the whole fish is tossed to the man behind the counter so he can fillet it. Quite entertaining.

We found a great little pub/brewery in Pike's Market -- the Pike's Brewery, so we had the Sampler Platter.
